Chief Executive Officer of one of the fastest growing
pharmacy chains in West Africa, HealthPlus Limited, Bukky George has
called on policymakers to come to the aid of HealthCare Service providers in
Nigeria. She made this call during the 11th Annual CEOs Forum organized by LEAP
AFRICA, tagged: Attracting Financing for
Your Business Strategies and Opportunities at LandMark Event Centre,
Victoria Island Lagos, Nigeria on June 2, 2016.

According to her, entrepreneurs like her are the real heroes
of Nigeria economy and need financial support from the government to continue
being in business. “I’m using this medium to call for support in the area of
Health Care Service provides. We need support from the government to continue.
The absence of funding for Health Care Services in Nigeria is a big shame
compare to what is obtainable overseas. “I was in India in 2011 and was
surprised how their health care system has developed. If India can achieve it,
Nigeria can achieve it too.
The CEOs forum was born out of the need to support Small
Medium Enterprise (SME) development in Nigeria and equip business owners with
the skills necessary to build sustainable organizations. It is a platform
for interaction, knowledge sharing and partnerships between SMEs and leading
private sector organizations who offer cutting-edge solutions, support and
services that aid growth, development and sustainability of businesses in
Nigeria.
This year’s forum brought together about 1, 000
entrepreneurs, multinationals and corporate executives to interact and gain
insight on financing options for SMEs in Africa. Mr. Segun Ogunsanya, Managing
Director, Airtel Nigeria enlightened participants on Airtel’s support for SMEs
and various opportunities and innovative business models the network is
providing to promote and ensure sustainable businesses in Nigeria and
urge them to take advantage of the various options to promote and grow their
businesses.
Worthy of note on speakers’ major focus during their
presentations were on the importance of following economic trends and its
effect on business, positioning businesses for investments, innovator funds for
social development and overcoming common challenges entrepreneurs face at
inception and during the early stage of their businesses.
Also, Investment Readiness Workshop for entrepreneurs with
speakers like: Danladi Verheijen, Collins Onuegbu, Mobola Onibonoje, Dapo
Okubedejo, Folabi Esan, Mezuo Nwuneli and Chika Nwobi, Funke Okubadejo where
they delved into investment, financing by sector and strategies for accessing
external funding were an eye opener for most SMEs to explore from.
